Eleanor & Whitten Wedding

Every time I go through Tuscumbia I take the long way so I can drive by Saint Johns Episcopal Church. It is old and simple and elegant Church and I have always wanted to photograph a wedding there. So when Eleanor and her mother (who is the neighbor of and keeper of the old church which is only used for special occasions) contacted us, I was ecstatic. Eleanor and Whitten’s wedding was full of authentic moments and beautiful light so it was one that had to be shared!

Maggie & Blake Engagement

When we first met with Maggie and Blake we talked all about the wedding plans, but once we started talking about engagements, everybody got really excited. Blake was telling us about how much they love Jason Isbell in particular the song “Traveling Alone”. We used this as a fun jumping off point for a road trip engagement shoot through Lauderdale County and down the Natchez Trace. Blake found a friend with a 1934 Hudson and we were off!

B. Designs Paper

We had a blast working with our good friends at Indie Shopography on the photography for B. Designs Paper! B. Designs Paper specializes in invitations of all kinds, but primarily weddings. The invitations were categorized into looks, which makes it easy to shop for and really fun to shoot! Bdesigns-blog-6 Bdesigns-blog-3 Bdesigns-blog-4 Bdesigns-blog-5Bdesigns-blog-1Bdesigns-blog-2

Marisa & Matt Wedding

Marisa and Matt’s downtown Florence wedding had all of the elegance you could hope for without any of the fuss. Both the Bride and Groom are working artists (Marisa started Scout By Two a leather goods company and Matt is the lead singer in the band Belle Adair) so we knew working with them would be a fun collaboration. Marisa has such a clean cohesive look in her work and it translated into their beautiful garden wedding seamlessly. Susan and I were also super excited when Marisa asked about the possibility of us photographing the wedding with film. We had been shooting film photographs at weddings over the past year or two, but not the entire wedding, so it was both a thrill and a bit scarry. The wedding day was a perfect fall day as the late afternoon ceremony gave way to the reception at 116 Mobile, just a two block walk through the streets of downtown Florence.

Madeline

There are some days where things don’t turn out at all like you have planned, but in that chaos so much beauty can arise. We had a spark of an idea and shared that with others around us and within a few hours it spread and this beautiful moment was captured. Huge thank you to Heather Wylie owner of Bohem who made this skirt and top just for this shoot. Such and amazing talent! Also, our dear friend Laura was so great to let us borrow her daughter Madeline for a few hours. She was so graceful and serene, she was just perfect!
