Geneva & Brandon’s Wedding

From the moment we met Geneva, we knew this wedding would be dreamy! For one, I always look forward to being in my home town of Huntsville. Secondly, when we met for a consultation, Geneva’s mother, who is an amazing photographer, told us to go wild and do anything we wanted. Sometimes people say things like that, but rarely does the day lend itself to doing something like that. On the day of the wedding, we had an extra hour in the schedule, so we decided to go to an old abandoned mining cave to do some fun photos. We did not know till later that Geneva and Brandon love to rock climb, but thought that it was a fun coincidence when we found out. After a beautiful intimate ceremony with close friends and family, the day gave way to dancing in the rain. It was a joy to watch the families and guests learn and participate in traditional folk dances, which was Geneva’s college major. Being around such a close and eclectic group of people this night reminded me how lucky we are to be able to document such amazing moments in peoples lives!

This past Fall, Geneva and Brandon’s wedding was featured on the Cottage Hill Blog!

Most recently, a beautiful photo of Geneva dancing was featured on the cover of No’Ala Huntsville as well as a featured wedding spread in the January/February 2016 Wedding issue!Geneva & Brandon Wedding G&B(blog)-3G&B(blog)-2

Lyndsey & Jordan Engagement

This late summer engagement session was awesome! When we first met up to talk, Lyndsey asked if it would be possible to do some photos at Rivertown Coffee. Since it is one of my very favorite places to hang out in Florence and the fact that we had never done an engagement session there before, I thought it was a great idea! After getting fully caffeinated, we went around downtown and ended the evening on the bank for the Tennessee River. blog-l&j-14blog-l&j-4blog-l&j-3blog-l&j-9 blog-l&j-10 blog-l&j-11 blog-l&j-12 blog-l&j-13 blog-l&j-15 blog-l&j-19 blog-l&j-20

Caroline’s Bridal

Working with Caroline from beginning to end has been a pure joy. All of the sessions and her and Wes’
wedding have been on land her family has owned for 3 generations. This stunning property in Zip City Alabama was not only gushed about by Caroline but was the absolute perfect setting to match her effortless beauty. The wedding has now come and gone, so we are thrilled to be able to show Caroline’s Bridals!

Marisa & Matt Wedding

Marisa and Matt’s downtown Florence wedding had all of the elegance you could hope for without any of the fuss. Both the Bride and Groom are working artists (Marisa started Scout By Two a leather goods company and Matt is the lead singer in the band Belle Adair) so we knew working with them would be a fun collaboration. Marisa has such a clean cohesive look in her work and it translated into their beautiful garden wedding seamlessly. Susan and I were also super excited when Marisa asked about the possibility of us photographing the wedding with film. We had been shooting film photographs at weddings over the past year or two, but not the entire wedding, so it was both a thrill and a bit scarry. The wedding day was a perfect fall day as the late afternoon ceremony gave way to the reception at 116 Mobile, just a two block walk through the streets of downtown Florence.

Indie Film Lab Shindig

Earlier this month we got the chance to go visit our awesome lab, Indie Film Lab, in Montgomery. I feel rather lucky that we have such a fantastic lab right here in Alabama! The Shindig was a great chance to meet the folks at the lab, see the equipment, ask geeky scanner questions, and meet a bunch of fellow film photographers from all over the country. One of Indie Film Labs most well known clients, Ryan Muirhead, talked us through his process of shooting and gave a walkabout demonstration. It was inspiring to watch him engage with the light. After the demonstration all of us got to know each other, did tons of portraits around the courtyard, and enjoyed a delicious low country boil.

Single Lock Review

A few weeks ago the guys at Single Lock Records put together a fantastic lineup of artists on their label and played the UNA homecoming concert. We were jazzed to be able to be backstage doing portraits of folks in the bands. There was a slew of talent on the stage that night from bands such as Belle Adair, Steelism, Dylan Lablanc, The Pollies, The Bear, John Paul White, and the legendary Donnie Fritts. There were even a few other Muscle Shoals music legends playing. All in all it was great music, great folks, and a great night!

Michelle & Jake Engagement

Michelle and Jake were such a joy to spend the afternoon with, and of course to photograph. They were engaged a few months earlier at the Rogers & Rogers Art Gallery in downtown Florence. That night, Jake made dinner and coaxed Michelle there with an elaborate plan. They however did not have many photos of themselves from that night, so we decided that it would be the perfect place to start the session! Afterwards we went to Wildwood Park and enjoyed a cool summer evening at Cypress Creek.

Madeline

There are some days where things don’t turn out at all like you have planned, but in that chaos so much beauty can arise. We had a spark of an idea and shared that with others around us and within a few hours it spread and this beautiful moment was captured. Huge thank you to Heather Wylie owner of Bohem who made this skirt and top just for this shoot. Such and amazing talent! Also, our dear friend Laura was so great to let us borrow her daughter Madeline for a few hours. She was so graceful and serene, she was just perfect!
